FAQ's
There are too many do's and don'ts with nonstick cookwares. Non stick
cookwares were specifically designed to save time and trouble in the
kitchen. Just by following a few simple guidelines, cooking and cleaning of
Du Pont Teflon® coated OK non stick cookware is much easier
for everyone: -
Q. Can I use Teflon®
in the microwave?
A. Teflon® nonstick coating can be used on top of the range, in
the oven, under the broiler (as long as temperature does not exceed 260°c)
and in the microwave. However, the material of the cookware itself may not
be suitable for certain applications (for example, metal pans should not be
used in the microwave). Be sure to check the cookware manufacturer's
guidelines for proper usage.
Q. Can you store food in
the refrigerator in a non stick pan?
A. Oh yes you can, with no problem whatsoever.
Q. Will high heat damage
the pan's non stick finish?
A. Low to medium-high test is recommended for cookware with non
stick surfaces.
Q. Do scratches ruin the
non stick pan for good?
A. With today's improved non stick, scratching is much less of a
problem to worry about. And even if a minor scratch were to occur, it only
affects the appearance and not the cooking or easy clean-up performance of
the pan. To avoid scratching, don't use sharp edges or metal utensils when
cooking.
Q. Will the particles of
non stick coating come off during cooking and get into my food?
A. With over 30 years experience in non stick technology, genuine Du
Pont Teflon® coated OK non stick knows how to ensure that
our non stick cookwares are engineered to resist chipping, peeling, flaking,
or other kinds of abrasions. What's more, the non stick coating itself is
non-toxic, so even if a particle were to be accidentally eaten, it would not
be harmful.
Q. Can Du Pont
Teflon® coated OK non stick cookware be used for any type of
cooking?
A. You name it and you can cook on it. From boiling milk to shallow
frying and deep-frying of any curry; veg or non-veg, it's all possible. Not
only that does it retain the same taste and quality, it provides a healthier
way of cooking by preserving nutrients and using less oil.
Q. How safe is Du Pont
Teflon® coated cookware?
A. Teflon® cookware is approved by Food and Drug Association,
USA and ISO certified. To date, over 2 billion pots and pans have been
purchased in more than 40 countries around the world. In all of this
experience, there has been no record of serious, chronic, or acute health
problems. Teflon® poses no health threat.
Q. What is the best way to
clean the Teflon® surface?
A. Simply wash with hot soapy water and a sponge after each use, to
get the surface thoroughly clean. In case oil or food residue is left on the
pan, use any cleaning solution to avoid "carbonization".
Q. What the best way to
ensure that cookware with Teflon® non stick performs beautifully from
the start and continues to perform for the life of the cookware?
A. A few simple steps will keep your pans looking and performing
their best. Although not absolutely necessary, a non-time "seasoning"
of your pan prior to use will ensure that you experience the "non stick"
release quality from the start. Just wipe the interior with cooking oil;
remove any excess with a dry paper towel.
Q. How difficult is it to
maintain my Du Pont Teflon® coated OK non stick cookware?
A. Maintenance is just as easy since today's Teflon® surfaces
are more durable than ever. Always avoid using knives and cutting food in
the pan and wash with hot soapy water after each use. Store your cookware
carefully to prevent scratching.
